I got this serum when it first came out, but as always it takes me a long time to test everything out. I buy a lot of products, because I think they are interesting and I want to share them on the blog, but I have one face and it takes a long time for me to get around to test everything. This Neutrogena serum finally came to my skin care routine and I use it as a part of my night time skin care routine. Today I’ll share my opinion on Neutrogena Clean & Defend daily serum that is formulated with salicylic acid and 10% AHA/PHA.
Packaging is really simple and I have a problem with it. I’m not sure what they were thinking but the cap on the product is weird. It can’t stand straight and you have to keep it upside down, which is hard as the product keeps sliding off. I like the tube, it will be great for using up the last bit of product, but they could make the cap a lot better. You get 30 ml of product. Neutrogena Clear & Defend daily serum is clinically proven to improve the appearance of acne marks. It is supposed to unclog pores to help prevent breakouts. Neutrogena Clear & Defend daily serum is fragrance free and formulated with salicylic acid and 10% AHA/PHA. This serum is supposed to smooth the skin and boost skin radiance. 10% AHA/PHA mixture is 5% glycolic acid, 2.55% mandelic acid and 2.45% gluconolactone. You should be careful using this product for the first few times as it is quite intense, so Neutrogena recommends using this one on small areas of the skin to check skin sensitivity. I think this serum is about 9 Euros, I think I paid that much.
As this product contains AHA you should be careful while using this Neutrogena serum and make sure you use it at night and in the morning definitely apply SPF. Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum contains salicylic acid which is an amazing ingredient for acne prone skin. Salicylic acid works really well for my skin, it helps me clear out acne and acne scars, so I always have salicylic acid in my skin care collection. This one also contains 10% AHA/PHA mixture which contains 5% glycolic acid that is supposed to accelerate skin renewal and also it is supposed to help clear out acne scars and make them heal faster. In 10% AHA/PHA mixture is 2.55% mandelic acid that is supposed to work as an exfoliant for the first skin layer, helps rejuvenate and helps get back skin’s natural glow. In 10% mixture there is added 2.45% gluconolactone that is supposed to clean pores and help even out skin’s texture. I have to say that this is pretty good serum, but it takes getting used to for sure. Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum is really intense, so sometimes you will feel your skin slightly burning and reacting to this serum. For me it happened first a few times and every now and then it happens again. You will feel slight burning and pinching on the skin, but it goes away fast. This product smells pretty bad in my opinion, it definitely doesn’t have any fragrance, but it smells acidic. Obviously that is expected because Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum has a lot of different acids. You will have to get adjusted to the scent, it is pretty intense. It also stays on my skin for a while, once my husband kissed my cheek after a few hours since I put Neutrogena serum on and he said he could smell ‘chemicals’ on me. Texture of Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum is pretty nice, lightweight and it has a soft white colour. This one is really easy to apply and it is easy to blend into the skin. I think this serum works really well for my skin. It definitely helps get rid of acne faster, also acne scars do go away faster. If you have a lot of acne scars this Neutrogena serum can be a great option to try. This one works so great for me and I really recommend it. I still get breakouts, but for me that is normal, my skin is prone to breakouts and I always get hormonal breakouts. I know that there is no product that will keep my skin from breaking out. I think Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum is really great, it is a great drugstore option and it works really well. Even though I don’t like packaging the most, because of the cap, if you ignore that, you really have an awesome quality product that is not expensive and it is easy to get.
I can only recommend this Neutrogena Clear & Defend serum, I think it is great and definitely worth checking out. If you have sensitive skin, then definitely be careful, this serum is really intense. I would use it slowly at the beginning to make skin adjusted and then increase the use per week. That’s all from me today. I hope you enjoyed this review.
