I don’t remember the last time I was so interested in testing the new Balea product. They do come up with a lot of products, but nothing really caught my attention until this new limited-edition Summer Sunset. They have three products in this collection, I think. There is self-tanning mousse, shimmering body oil and body spray. I honestly don’t like shimmering body oils as they are so messy and they ruin clothes. But self-tanning mousse is something that I like to have in my collection. I do have my favourites of course, but it is always interesting to try something new. Today I’ll give you a full review on Balea Summer Sunset tanning mousse.
Packing is definitely cute and pretty. I like how “summery” it looks and it is easy to use. You get 200 ml of product. This product is suitable for vegans. This is part of a limited-edition collection, so I guess it will be around for spring/summer time. Product smells really nice, but as with most self-tanning products, scent changes while it is on the body for an hour or so. It smells really bad when it is on your body for a few hours so even though they say that you don’t need to wash this one off, I always take a quick shower just to get rid of the scent. This product is transparent and foam is white in colour. This is not the easiest for applying. If you are not experienced with self-tanning products, then this one might be tricky. You literally can’t keep track of the product; you can’t see where you applied or missed the spot. I used self-tanning mousses before, but all of them had colour, so it was easier to apply. This one is tricky; you can see that you made mistakes only when tan develops.
Balea claims that this product gives natural colour. I can definitely agree with that, this one is quite light. After you apply one layer of this one you can see the smallest difference in colour. It will give you just a little bit of colour, it won’t be easily noticeable. I honestly wish it was darker and that it gives more colour. I need to apply 2-3 layers of this mousse to get colour, so I can say that I looked tanned. As Balea usually has problems with formulating body lotions to not have white marks while you are applying them, they have that problem with mousse too. This one is not the easiest to apply because it takes some time to absorb and to massage it well in the skin. White residue is there so you have to blend it really well. That is definitely something that I don’t like, I hate that in their body lotions too. If you never used fake tanners before, this one might be difficult to use because you can’t see where you applied it. I would recommend body lotions as they are usually a lot easier to use. I probably would not repurchase this one again, there are definitely better options out there. I don’t like the fact that I have to reapply this one 2-3 times to see any colour and tan appearing. This one takes 3-4 layers to match the tan that I get with my favourite self-tanning mousse. Obviously, this way I use more product and time for application. It lasts like other self-tanning mousses that I tried which is about 3-4 days. After that it definitely starts fading away and looking splotchy. I like the colour that I get with this one, but I can’t get over the fact that I have to apply so many layers to get a tanned colour.
All in all, this is good self-tanning mousse. Is it the best I tried? For sure, no, there are many better options. If you are looking for an interesting product to try, this one can be it. I think it is good mousse, but I just wish it had more colour, so I don’t have to re-apply it so many times to get the tan that I like. That’s all from me today. I hope you enjoyed this review.
