ARos – Aarhus art Museum visit

post-title

One weekend my husband surprised me with a full day out, planning our visit to ARos and dinner in the restaurant after. Weather was really bad that day, it was raining all day, so it was a perfect time to spend time in an art museum, enjoy art and walk around surrounded by beauty. It was Saturday, so the museum was quite busy and there were a lot of people inside. The Aarhus Art Museum is really big, so it takes a long time to see everything and visit all exhibitions. I would say you need a good 3-5 hours to really feel all the art and nicely explore the gallery. We spent pretty much all day in the gallery and really explored all exhibitions and made sure to see everything.

I loved being in ARos, it was amazing and definitely a place that I will go back to many times. If you find yourself in Aarhus, I would definitely recommend you to visit this museum, it is beautiful and definitely a place that is worth visiting. Entry fee is 180 DKK (24 Euros) for adults, for students and people under 31 is 150 DKK (20 Euros), while for children, under 18, entry is free. I will say that entry fees are completely fair as there is so much to see and explore. There was so much to see, I loved seeing paintings of nature in Aarhus. We spend a long time just admiring beautiful paintings that look so real it is like you are looking at a photograph. Those paintings were so incredible that they will stay in my memory forever, literally while writing this I see those paintings in my mind. One of my favourites is from Janus la Cour called ‘From the shore at Moesgård’. If I’m being completely honest we spent most of the time observing landscape paintings, we were truly amazed and really looking at those paintings is almost a magical experience. We have been at many places that are painted, so experience was completely surreal.

I was also really impressed by Ron Mueck’s ‘Art and Life’ collection. You can see a photo of one of the statues that impressed me greatly. We loved this collection, it was stunning. One of the most popular pieces is a big baby statue that looks so real, it is crazy. I loved all the pieces in this collection and we spent a good hour just walking around statues and really enjoying ourselves. I also loved different installation art pieces, where one of my favourites was Sarah Sze ‘Metronome’. It was an amazing exhibition with different sounds, lights, colours and pictures. Obviously I enjoyed the Rainbow panorama on top of the museum, it was so pretty. It was a shame that it was raining so hard, but still the view was incredible and I got some cool photos from it. All in all I loved ARos, it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go back.

After all the exhibitions and collections we had cappuccino in the cafe that is in the museum. It was incredible coffee, they really made it extremely creamy and delicious. Coffee was expensive, but it was amazing, so worth the price. I also popped up at the museum gift shop and got a magnet for the fridge. I like collecting them and hope that one day I will have so many to completely cover my fridge. I will share my outfit details now. I wore black bodycon dress from Zara and on top of the dress I wore a Guess black T shirt. On top of all that I wore my Meotine leather jacket. For the shoes I wore my leather Lacoste sneakers and for the bag I decided to wear Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag that I haven’t worn in a long time. I really liked my outfit, I think it turned out really nice.

All in all Aarhus Art Museum was an amazing place and a great idea to spend a rainy Saturday looking at art and enjoying. I enjoyed every minute of this day and I will definitely go back to ARoS again. If you are passing by Aarhus I would highly recommend you to visit ARoS, it is an incredible place. That’s all from me for today. I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Let me know if you like visiting art museums? What is your favourite art museum that you visited so far? Have you ever visited the Aarhus Art Museum? Thank you for reading. Have a nice day! xx
